Education Landscape Architect Design
- Ruskin College – In 2008, Portus + Whitton were appointed to design a new garden around the proposed refectory in the historic kitchen garden with its unique 18th century crinkle crankle wall.
The design recreates elements of a working kitchen garden with food plants and herbs in an informal contemporary layout as a setting for the café terraces.
Following the success of this project, Portus + Whitton were appointed to masterplan the entire college grounds as part of a redevelopment project. Ensuring the retention of protected and cherished veteran trees has been an important element of our work within this multi-disciplinary project.
Both these projects have been managed from outset with stringent sustainability targets and accessibility as a priority.
