John Whitton

John Whitton After setting up a landscape team within a large London architectural practice in 1980, John established his own practice in the Cotswolds in 1984. Dating from his art school training John has a particular interest in the design and aesthetics of our environment. He feels that simple observation and good drawing skills assist a designer not only to realise imaginary concepts but to be able to present these to others. A keen interest in the design of the wider living environment has involved John in architectural and interior design, from pavilions to opera houses. John has worked on several University projects (for Lincoln College, Brasenose College and with BGS for Cambridge University Press), for Institutional, health and church clients (including St Aldates, Oxford), for public authorities, historic estates and commercial clients. John has a special interest in garden design which he feels brings together all the skills of the landscape architect into individual projects. Completed gardens range from the small to the enormous and complex, including lakes, fountains, grass amphitheatres and specially commissioned sculpture.
